Dominique Crenn was voted The World's Best Female Chef 2016

On Monday Masterchef set it's team challenge in Dominique Crenn's San Francisco restaurant Atelier Crenn. Masterchef were either blessed with good timing or the stars aligned for the TV Show. In June Dominique Crenn was voted The World's Best Female Chef 2016.

“French chef woos the world with poetic culinaria”

“A homage to her late father, the restaurant is modelled on his personal studio and a place where art is the guiding force. Entitled 'poetic culinaria' with menus written as poems, Crenn's imaginative modernist cooking reflects her deeply personal creative expression and vision of fine French cuisine. Fiercely local, seasonal and sustainable, her highly artistic tasting menus speak of place and memory and take diners on an unapologetically emotional journey through flavours, textures and scents. ” //www.theworlds50best.com/awards/best-female-chef Dominique opened her own restaurant, Atelier Crenn, in 2011. As the show kept reminding us Atelier Crenn has 2 Michelin Stars, She the first Woman in the US to awarded 2 Michelin Stars. So it is a big deal. “In 2009, I had an accident and came close to losing my life. I realised I needed to do something that spoke of me and to my heart - I didn't want to cook food dictated by someone else. Atelier Crenn is an homage to my dad, who was a politician but also an artist (as well as a terrible cook!) I wanted to bring his mentality to the forefront of the restaurant; to bring different people together.” “Food is the core of society. You can taste someone's food and know something about what their society is about.” Dominique Crenn//www.isa.org/about-isa/what-is-automation/ Contestants must work in teams to recreate two of Dominque Creen's signature dishes.
